10 Interesting Facts about Iceland 

Since I have finished my posts about my trip to Iceland I decided to post ten interesting facts about Iceland that I learned from my trip.

  1. Iceland uses geothermal energy for electricity and heating
  2. Icelandic water is some of the cleanest water that can be found in the world
  3. Iceland is in the middle of the north america and eurasian fault lines that are slowly separating
  4. Eruption of Eyjafjallajökull in 2010 caused large ash cloud that disrupted air traffic in europe for months
  5. Iceland became independent from Denmark on June 17, 1944
  6. Iceland doesn’t allow other horse breeds to mix with Icelandic horses
  7. Many of Iceland’s trees were brought over from other parts of the world with similar climates such as Alaska
  8. Stories of elves and trolls are common in Iceland
  9. Iceland has won four Olympic medals two silver and two bronze
  10. Many Icelandic songs sound happy but are actually very dark

Iceland Trip Day 11: Going Home

This morning we woke up and had breakfast before playing some cards.  After we had played cards for a while we drove to the Blue Lagoon for our lunch.  We then drove over to the airport in order to get there early for our flight.
